HELP I NEVER MEANT TO DIVE HEADLONG INTO ELVEN POLITICS.

When did I become a person who has Elf Feelings All the Time? I haven't even read the Silmarillion. It should be illegal to have Elf Feelings All the Time if you haven't read the Silmarillion. And yet somehow it is happening to me.

Also I seem to have adopted the elves that nobody likes. The Greenwood royal family are under my protection now, even though I made up half of them entirely and invented the personalities for the existing half. *shrug emoji*

Also, I felt like sharing this with all of you, because I told it to a friend of mine and like it so much. Laerwen is a burnt marshmallow. That is all.

A confession: I'm on my second readthrough of the Silm, and I've been stuck about a third of the way in since, like, 2017 or something... On the other hand, I love The Children of Húrin standalone book, but then again, that's sort of actually Not Elves, heh.

(My sister got me the brand-new Fall of Gondolin for christmas, but I've yet to open it, except to ogle at the glorious illustrations. But we'll see.)

Ooh! I know daisynorbury has Fall of Gondolin! I read a couple of paragraphs from it and did the farsighted-double-take-back-away from the text, because OH MY GOSH TOLKIEN WHAT EVEN. "Everywhither"? Really? But I'm no one to judge; I haven't read any of the background texts. Honestly, I fell in love with the source trilogy, and haven't branched out much from those books. (I've always felt a little like a fraud for that reason, and now doubly so. Oops.)

(Thank you for the cheerleading. I'm hopelessly stuck at the Last Alliance; we'll see if I ever figure out the emotional resonance of THAT to enough of a point that I can write anything else ever. Usually I write out of order, but I can't even write anything after something like that without knowing what goes down there and what kind of effects it has, and I'm thusfar unable to resolve it to my satisfaction.)
