Oh man! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and yeah-- that hanging-state was exactly what I wanted to get across, so I'm glad it worked! For awhile I worried that their excuses for keeping it secret were all too weak, but then I realized that that was exactly their point-- they were doing all this rationalizing, but really they were just scared of their feelings and scared of what they meant.

It's both flattering and weirdly terrifying to be asked that question, because this story is one I wasn't very happy with when posting, so the tiny voice in my mind is like why?. But yes, absolutely! Ideas are totally free, and this one used to be up in the collection before it was removed, so it is absolutely free for the writing!
