Introduction?
Dec. 8th, 2018 09:34 pm I have to be honest, I'm not entirely sure what to post.
I, like so many others (and like the only people who are currently in my "circle," so I suppose it hardly needs exposition, but watch me exposit anyway!) am making a cautious profile here in case everything entirely falls through with Tumblr. I, like (I imagine) many others, am extremely intimidated by the idea of starting over on a new platform, especially one so text-based, one that's an actual journal rather than a hodgepodge of random thoughts, fic updates, and other people's creations. I feel like I have to be (*gasp*) creative.
Once upon a time, I thought I was - even when writing about myself. Now, though, I kind of wonder why anyone would be interested in learning about me - or what I have to keep people around.
So here is a basic introduction, I guess: I'm a recently-graduated absolute disaster of a human being with a bachelor's degree in nothing really, a whole bunch of fandom and theoretical obsessions, and a boatload of existential angst. I'm from the USA and speak English as my mother tongue, but I'm also fluent in German and will probably reference that from time to time. I love to write, and sometimes I do other things as well, though right now I can't think of any of them. In the past I've been wildly obsessed with Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but my current and most prolific obsession is Lord of the Rings. I have to be honest, though - it's not the series or the lore I'm here for, but the shipping. Specifically, Legolas/Gimli. And, I confess, little else.
Because I'm also the kind of person who becomes neurotically anxious about representing myself exactly as I am, I am now of course trying to think of anything I've neglected to mention or anything else that might be important. But I suppose this introduction doesn't have to be the end-all be-all of my self-presentation. So I think I'll stop now.
Oh, also I like puns. And cats.
