I'm having more Feelings about my own OCs-- different situation this time-- and arrivals in Valinor. I apologize for inflicting them on you.

If you are interested in a tiny snippet of Legolas and Gimli welcoming Eleniel to Valinor, read on. Warning for platonic mouth-kisses between BFFs.

When the infernal rocking waves finally lessen beneath her feet, the motion of her boat smooth at last as it glides into the harbor, Eleniel can hardly spare a glance for the elves at the docks who stand ready to help guide her in. Ever since the horizon first came into view, she has had eyes for nothing but the mismatched pair of figures making its way to the shore – the pair who stand now in clear view, nearly close enough for her to touch.

She barely waits for the first scrape of the boat against the wood against the dock. Mooring rope forgotten, the words of the harbormasters blurring together in her ears, she stumbles over the side of her boat – the sea did not agree with her, even if it did carry her safely here – and directly into Legolas’s arms.

“Eleniel!” he says, and it is his voice more than anything else that truly brings her home. “My dear friend, how I have missed you.”

She kisses him – on the mouth, a gesture that they have mostly put aside since he and Gimli wed. It is not a lover’s kiss – she has never felt thus about Legolas, and she knows he has no such sentiments towards her – but in this moment, her love is simply too great to be expressed in words alone. The gesture does not mean to them what it does to a wedded couple, but merely a profound affection, one bestowed upon the rarest of greetings and farewells.

“One moment!” Gimli blusters, drawing himself up from where he has been waiting to embrace her in turn. “What do you think you” –

She kisses him as well: light and swift, barely a peck, but enough to leave him sputtering and blushing redder than his hair used to be. She laughs, feeling for a moment a giddy lightness that has been absent for years.

“I am gladder to be here than I ever could have imagined,” she says, leaning into Legolas where he still holds her in half an embrace and placing a hand on Gimli’s shoulder to give it a gentle squeeze.

Gimli huffs. “I am almost sorry I missed you,” he says, but he hooks an arm around her waist on the side free of Legolas’s hold and pulls her close for a moment in welcome.

And so, propped up thus on both sides, she lets them lead her away from the shore.

D'awww, that's lovely! I am here for the platonic physical affection that only looks strange because of cultural expectations. ^^
