Okay so I'm LOVING the pictures of Thranduil and Oropher on tolkiengateway.net. I'm gonna do the best I can to get the Thranduil one fixed in my head as my new mental image of the character, because it's excellent.

The Legolas one is pretty good, too - sort of captures the dreamy simplicity of his character in the books, which I love a lot.

Basically I love book-inspired fanworks; give me more of them. :D :D
